Ensignbus
buses just keep going in the snow
Posted - 3 December
2010
Since the
adverse weather conditions started on Tuesday,
30th November, Ensignbus have been working flat
out to provide the best possible service on all
of its local bus routes. We are pleased that we
have managed to run all routes and in many cases
as close as possible to the normal timetable.
We couldn't do this without our drivers or operations
staff and they are owed a great deal of thanks.
Our continuing pledge is that we will ALWAYS
continue to run our buses for you no matter what.
Only a major event/ situation, road closure or
inpassable road will stop us.
Remember that we will be out there when others
aren't!
We appreciate all of the kind comments that you
have sent in to us about our services during the
snow and a selection of those emails are below:
I would like to thank you and your drivers for
the excellent service you have provided during
this snowy weather.
I get a bus between Tilbury & Grays every weekday
and have not had to wait long on any day this
week for a bus to arrive.
May I also wish you and your drivers a Merry Christmas
and a Happy New year.
Regards M Spencer
I am quick enough to complain and I am quick enough
to praise as well.
I would just like to say what a brilliant job
all your drivers have done to get me and other
passengers to work in the extreme weather conditions.
I'd just like this opportunity to thank them all,
they did a great job.
Yours sincerely Miss J Watkins
Would you please convey my thanks to your drivers
on the 81 service in Hutton for keeping the buses
running despite the awful weather conditions.
I have been very impressed with the service you
provide on a normal day, but have been particularly
grateful over the last few days. I am sure people
are quick to complain and criticise, so I wanted
to make sure I expressed my thanks for a job well
done! Mrs D Boem
I would like to say a big thank you to the company
and staff for keeping the buses running in this
weather. Edward
I had to travel into Grays this morning (I live
in the Woodside area of Grays) and I am writing
to say how grateful I was to your drivers - the
conditions are appalling here at the moment and
look to be getting worse - but I had no problem
either getting there or getting home. I really
appreciate your bus drivers efforts as it must
be extremely stressful driving in such awful conditions.
Once again, my thanks and appreciation to your
company drivers. Mrs P J Waight
Just wanted to say thank you to the driver of
the No.81 Hutton service this morning. Despite
the adverse weather conditions, the driver helped
lots of straded people and remained cheerful throughout
The No.81 is a great, reliable service so thanks
to everyone. V Stewart
I would like to say Thank you for the bus service
yesterdayt. I was able to keep my appointment
at Orsett Hospital. I had to us the 22 from Aveley
to Lakeside. At Lakeside someone from Ensign asked
me where I was going as I was waiting for a different
bus to Orsett, they said the bus I was waiting
for was not running and that I should get the
bus to Grays where I would be able to get the
20. I got on the 66 to Grays then the 20 to Orsett.
Once again thanks very much.
Regards Ann
I would just like to send a massive thank all
the wonderful drivers on the 81 route in Hutton
and Brentwood for the unfailing service during
the awful weather during the last week. Not once
were the buses disrupted all of them seemed to
be running on time and the drivers were their
usual helpful, happy, cheerful selves. Well done.
Thank you once again. S. Jassy
Ensignbus
vintage bus running day - 4th December CANCELLATION
Posted - 1 December
2010
It is with
regret that the planned Ensignbus vintage bus
running day via routes X55 (Lakeside - Upminster)
& X81 (Bluewater - Shenfield) has been CANCELLED
due to the current adverse weather & road conditions.
Some of the country lanes that both routes would
operate on are likely to have extremely poor adhesion
and we have to think about passenger safety as
well as possible damage to the vehicles.
This will be the first running day we have cancelled
since we started doing them in 2005.
PLEASE NOTE that this does not affect normal
Ensignbus bus services which will continue to
operate.
Our priority has to be towards our regular bus
services and operations and at the current time
the adverse weather condition have also made the
organising of the operation far more difficult
as many of our staff who would be preparing the
vehicles have not made it in and so all resources
are currently being directed at providing the
best regular bus service we can in testing conditions

Wayne Holland was the lucky driver again (see

We were extremely
happy to have Chelsea
FC book two open top buses with us
for a Victory Parade through their local area
on Sunday 16th May 2010. This was the second time
that we had done a job for them (the last was
in May 2006 for their victory parade after winning
the Premiership). This time was even more special
as they had won 'the double' (The Premiership
and the FA Cup).
The two open top buses used were Volvo B7L/ Ayats

BRENTWOOD
AREA ROUTE 81
Posted - 10 March,
2010
Following much local news coverage in the Brentwood
area about the plight of route 81/82 bus passengers
after the current operator decided to axe the
services, Ensignbus are pleased to announce that
a registration has been put in with the appropriate
authorities to operate a new 81 bus route which,
subject to acceptance will start on Tuesday, 4th
May 2010.
The new 81 will operate between Brentwood Station
and Hutton, Wash Road via the existing 81 route.
This service will run Monday to Saturday to a
much improved timetable. There will be earlier
journeys and a slightly later journey. Buses will
run every 20 minutes during Mon-Fri peak hours
and every 30 minutes during the off peak and on
Saturdays.
Low floor single deck buses will operate the route
at all times and will greatly benefit those who
have trouble getting onto step entrance buses
like the ones currently used.
Travellers on the route will also have the chance
to go to Lakeside Shopping Centre, Thurrock as
there will be one special journey there in the
morning and one back in the afternoon on Mondays
to Fridays.
Ensignbus Customer Services Manager, Paul Dickson
says "we look forward to serving the people
of Brentwood, Shenfield & Hutton and providing
them with the sort of service they are longing
for".
The route 81 timetable is now available to download.

for more information.
UPDATE:
There will be a public meeting regarding new route
81 at Hutton Lodge, Hutton Poplars on Thursday 25th

CHANGES
TO FARES & FARE STAGES FROM MONDAY, 5th APRIL
2010
Posted - 4 March, 2010
Most Single
& Return fares across all of our routes will
be changed from the above date. Some of these
will increase by an average of 10p - 20p.
At the same time, some of our fare stages will
be revised to make things simpler. If paying by
cash, please ensure that you tell the driver your
exact destination.
We are sorry to have to increase some of our fares
but have been left with no option due to the continual
rise in fuel costs. Please note that our last
full scale fare revision was around the start
of 2008!
There will be no changes to our Season ticket
or Student Saver ticket prices.
DELAYS
TO ROUTES 22, 44, 73, 73c & 83 UNTIL APPROXIMATELY
15th MARCH 2010
Posted - 1 March, 2010
Due to roadworks
& temporary traffic lights along London Road,
West Thurrock, the above routes will be subject
to unavoidable delays.
It may be necessary at times to divert route 83
between Grays & Lakeside (in both directions)
via Arterial Road. When this happens, customers
may use route 73 and change where necessary. We
will do our best to minimise any disruption where
we can.
We are sorry for any inconvenience but would like
to stress that the numerous sets of roadworks
are beyond our control.
