London icon. They have served
the capital for 50 years, although
2005 is to see the last of them
as they are gradually being withdrawn
from service. After all this time
in service, some of them have
covered over a million miles and
people recognise them the world
over.
If you want to travel in a
living piece of history, then
this vehicle will bring the
memories home.
RML 2405
This particular bus was for
many years an ordinary Routemaster
in London service, however in
2002 it was one of only 12 Routemasters
that were selected to be painted
gold in celebration of the Queens
Golden Jubilee.
It is now painted traditional
red again as seen on the left.
Below shows images of its first
job having been re-painted red
for a wedding party to the exclusive
venue of the Tower of London.
The bus even received its own
guard of honour made up of the
world famous Beefeater.
This bus also retains its traditional
open platform layout and consequently
requires a conductor. |
